I sighed and wiped my mouth. “They never disappoint. The food is always delicious here.” Dad nodded.

The waiter returned to the table and sat down for two chocolate shakes. Dad and I looked at each other.

“I don’t think this is right.” I looked at the waiter.

“Oh, you’re right! I’m so sorry.” He turned and went behind the counter.

“Poor kid’s doing his best.” I chuckled. He came back and set two more chocolate shakes on the table.

“There we go!” He stepped back and looked at the table proudly. Dad and I fell into a fit of laughter.

“Son. We didn’t order these,” Dad said to the waiter.

He looked behind him. “Those ladies said to bring them here.” He pointed at a table by the wall.

We leaned and looked around him. Millie and Olivia were sitting at the bar, laughing.

A smile came across my face. Dad started laughing and waved them over. They came over and sat in the booth with us. Millie sat by me. “What are you guys doing?”

Dad smiled. “Getting some dinner! Boy, this place is good. We just left – “

“The house. We didn’t want to cook,” I said. Dad eyed me but went along with it. I wasn’t ready for Millie to know about the meetings. Not yet.
